The piece rankles some people because you poke holes in a basic premise of searching for a way to better ourselves. And you are essentially calling the consumers of these distilled ideas posers, where they see themselves as genuinely striving to better themselves and find authenticity.
I listen to THE DAILY STOIC each morning before leaving for work. I like the reminders. I also take your point — but the article could just as easily read “The Banality of Reading Medium”
